Learn More About Berklee Online’s Master of Music in Music Production: berkonl.in/4b0cyz5
In this video from the Berklee Online course, Creative Recording and Editing Techniques in Music Production, instructor Enrique Gonzalez Müller shows you how to record an electric guitar through the amplifier’s output with a microphone, as well as how to plug your instrument directly into a direct inject box (also known as a DI box). And most importantly, he shares how the sounds captured by each method differ. Recording the sound of a guitar through an amplifier has a lot of advantages compared to a clean direct inject box (also known as a DI box), but recording the sound of an amp comes with many obstacles. Getting a specific tone right might be a challenge since there are a lot of factors involved: the model of the amp or guitar, where you place the microphone, the room itself, etc. Other challenges can arise when you try to rhythmically edit your guitar part. If it was recorded with a lot of distortion and effects, it can be hard to tell where your transients start or end. So having a DI recording as a “safety backup” can go a long way to getting the desired sound. It can help you rhythmically edit with more precision, and having a clean version of your recording is ideal in case anything goes wrong with the amplified version.

Excellent lesson due to your good communication skils.
Wow, lesson no 1, have a positif thingking of yourself, and stop compare yourself to others..and then of course you need a super great teacher😅😅..
Thanks for the vid!
Wow! So beautiful! I love the idea!
Thank you! 😊
It's been a long time since I've really enjoyed a film score.
I love musical abstractions so much. They give you emotional clarity.
It is very difficult to make a scale stop sounding like a scale, all recognizable and whatnot. Your improv was stellar.
You are a good instructor. Clear, concise, and no nonsense. Thank you so much for this.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm all 4 architypes. jajaja that's crazy. 🤓

I attended one of Sarah Brindell's sessions in this year's (2024's) Berklee Onsite, and it was absolutely fantastic, as was she! And she taught us about prosody. So cool!
My god whats with the editing here?
Does anyone know the name of the instructor? I'd like to find her lesson playlist
Thanks for the explanation!
This video tells you nothing about playing behind the beat.
Jesus loves yall, died for us, and rose again! Jesus calls for all of us to repent! He's coming back
As someone who was raised in the church this tells me a lot about the type of people who own the rights to I’ll fly away vs the rights of the Beatles song.
From films, to video games, and to a famous operating system like Windows XP. Such a talented man.
I really like this guy's work and could not help but hear House every now and then and it just made me smile.

So, at 2:34 min Steven thinks we should define ourselves by what we assume about others, and show how we are an absurd representation of a dichotomy between the artist or band that we assume we most resemble and some other act that we can [sic] say we resemble for any similarity at all, but make it should be the furthest thing possible from the first band. At 3:40-3:55, Steven reassures us that we should be unique though: even though he told us to estimate that we are like other people we assume we understand and to explain who we are as artists that way. Bad, Steven. God says get another job, not in music or entertainment. Seriously.
